My 3rd mechman alt is dead!

With my ranger, I blew a main car fuse that was in the harness. The fuse cost like $35, but it fixed my problem.

I kept swapping alts too, the alts could not recharge and it only lasted until it died.

Just like everyone says, it is not the alt, it is your car

I would say try sending it into shop if u cant find out yourself since this got to be a serious matter as you cant drive your car without any alternator working properly on your car ha

 
the prob is a parasitical power leech, something in your car's electrical is drawing current from your batts, with the car off or on, so when you start it up and your batts are uber low, and then you bump your system promptly while driving, your system is being basically powered by just the alt, and not much battery reserve support, so your alt ends up going bad with enough stress on it.

im a lil wasted loll
my batts sit at 13v when the cars off. this last alt my system was not working. just the cars load it self. it whent out just like the others.

 
what if anything have you done to track down the reason the alt's are dying? did all the alt's only last 3 days?
frist one lasted 4 days. 2ed one lasted 16 days. last one 3 days.

i cant fine any good reason why they are failing.

just the car itself will make the alt get over 400+ degress. Start the car and right away i can smell the alt burning. smok coming from the alt. Btw all my batts sit @ 13v when car is off. so its not trying to charge empty batts.

the ext volt reg will not change the voltage on this car even if i put it to a "hot" egnison wire. The computer regulats all the wires in the car to 13.8v. So i bypassed that buy puting the wire from the external volt reg to a toggle switch. the toggle switch to the batt. Trun the switch on before the cars on and it works.

But this last failer of the alt happend yesterday. Voltage is set to 14.7v. it wont go passed 12.0v so the car just runs off the batts.

Btw when it did work the voltage was never steady @ 15v like i set it at. it would go from 15.0v to 14.6v then back to 15v every few secounds with nothing but the car on.

Get int. reg. alt and be happy with it, you dont need 15v or what not to be loud.

All these toggle switches and what not are not meant to be there obviously

lol yeah ill sit @ 13.5 hot and bump and drop to 11v and amp will go into protect. iv done it

my dad told me to put stock alt in and do 10+ batts in back

what do u think?
