I just installed my avic-d1 in my scion, But I also kept my alpine 9855. I am using my 9855 for all the audio functions (xm,cd,dvd,) and using the avic-d1 for navigation ONLY. I was wondering if anyone here knew how I can have my 9855 mute when the navigtion on the avic is speaking?? Can you use the phone mute wire on the 9855 to mute when the navigation is speaking?? if so what wire would I hook to it from the avic-d1 thanks. in advance..

Wow, thats a lot to spend just to use the navi. I would assume that you could make your alpine mute by hooking it up to a wire that gets a current when the navi is talking.

$800 is a great price for the avic-d1, where did you get it? I have been thinking about buying one of those but the cheapest I have seen them is around $1200.

As far as the wiring, get a multimeter and measure the voltage of all of the output wires and see any of the wires get a current only when the nav is talking, then try thaat wire on the mute of the alpine.
