In Chicago, we have tons of muslim women who walk into the courts for their son/nephews/etc 's court citation, and none of them have been asked to leave and/or take off their scarfs in order to continue through the hearing. A lawsuit is definately reasonable for such a case.
On the other hand, if she was Iranian(where they cover their whole face, hands with gloves, hair covered, and only thing showing is her eyes, that can be a reasonable to ask her to leave, but thrown in jail is pathetic. What has gone wrong with America....

At the sake of going against the grain here, I actually applaud the actions taken. The law is the law, and if you do not respect it you will be in trouble. We live in North America, not Iran, Iraq, or any other country who's laws dictate that sort of action.

If we go there, we are expected to respect and abide by their laws. It should be the same way over here.

However unlike those clearly shitty countries you mentioned, our country is based on freedom of religion.

One easy way to prove this is go buy an american flag, take it out to a city street and burn it. You'll get some stupid looks most likely. Try that in one of those countries with their flag and see how long you have a pulse after that.

Since its religious they probably will try to get off on some Constitutional technicality, like Christians who do not have to swear on the bible to tell the truth...

Where does it end though. At a meat processing plant we just had 300 hundred somalians walk out from their job to protest not getting a break at sundown during Ramadan. The company tried to work with their lunch break to make it happen but the company's attempt at compromise wasn't good enough for them so they just walked out to protest.

What they didn't care to think about was how their change in break time affected all of the other workers on the line that had to work harder to make up for their change in break time. They just assumed it was their "right" no matter what.

Luckily the company just laid off a bunch of the protesters that walked out. The muslims did not care to think that other minorities in the plant might start protesting as well when they started receiving an unfair majority of the work load.
