I know many are stereo snobs and thats cool. I agree, most music I listen to I keep in 2 channel glory. However, there are a few that I have to listen to in 4 or more channels.

Many live albums sound better to me in in Dobly Pro Logic

I have to listen to Yes in surround

and last but no least, Ozric Tentacles.

Is there anyone else that has certain material they think is just better in surround?

DPL FTW
ive never held it to be a requirement to listen to music in surround, but if/when i do, its gotta be pro-logic.

tool and a perfect circle immediatly come to mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
My favorite is DPLII:Music. Worlds better than any simulated DSP setting. Most are just to heavy on effects.
I could see Tool and PC being good in surround. I will try it. I usually just listen to them in 2 channel and VERY loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was always listening to 2 channel audio [CD source] where the goal is to try to have

a concert type of experience [sQ + SPL], but in the past few years of collecting

DVD concerts [compressed audio] and experimenting with the budget line array with high

powered proamps, plus a simple 53" TV, I've noticed that my audio experience is more

rewarding now by having the combination of audio + video playback vs. only audio

[regular CD].

I haven't figure out why this is so. DVD is compressed audio, inferior, but there is some

weird psychoacoustics at work here as adding the eye candy to the audio performance

is just better as a whole for me. I really don't notice any inferior audio on some of my

concert DVD's, it's really good. I also now that the screen size plays a role, I wouldn't

have the same experience on a tiny screen, so it seems 'bigger is better' for me.

I can visualize an improvement in the audio experience by making the video part

bigger [getting a bigger screen], then try multichannel audio.

I wonder if there are concert releases on Laserdisc...would solve the issue of compressed audio nicely, without having to get in the high definition format wars //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well just so you snobs know. I am listening to Steely Dan Decade of hits in 2 channel glory.
I am not always blasphemous.
Don Fagen's (Don is half of Steely Dan) Morph The Cat on SACD sounds pretty good in 5.1.
