music cutting out!

i have: JVC CD500, Memphis M1's for doors and rears, Memphis tweets, one 15" Memphis M3

problem: when i turn the stereo up (pretty loud) the music quits besides the bass! the sub will still hit but that is all! we unhooked the rear to see if it may of been a problem...same thing happened! unhooked the tweets and doors to see if they were the problem...same thing happened! bought all new speakers to be sure....same thing happened! swapped the cd player for a new one to test...same thing happened!

Now the part we don't understand....

IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING! IF I JUST TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION IT IS FINE NO MATTER HOW LOUD I TURN IT UP! BUT IF I TURN THE CAR ON THEN I HAVE THIS PROBLEM!

Sub would keep pounding, but zero speakers. Tell me if you find any solutions.

Theres gotta be a problem with your IGN fuse, when you turn your ignition to start the car this kicks in (I think). There has to be a short in your IGN wire maybe. Did you check your fuse box and wiring harness? There may be a short somewhere. Try wiggling some wires around down there and see if you get anything to short out...only thing I can really think of.

That is very odd. My first thought was a loose signal cable/connection, as that could explain losing mids/highs while still retaining the subs (possibly). My second thought was a low voltage situation that was pushing your amp for the mids/highs into protection mode and shutting down. That could also explain why it only happens to some of your system, not all of it (possibly).

But then you said it only does it with the engine ON and that pretty much ruined both those theories.

i am running the highs off of the hu no amp

i used to run two 12" MOJO and a memphis 4KW...same HU and everything then i sold that setup and got one 15" M3 and now the problem started:wow:

Disconnect the sub amp and see if it still cuts out.
