Multiple Mid bass's, bad idea?

I was really wanting to fit a pair of 6.5" peerless Mid bass into each of my doors, unfortunately i cant. What i can fit is a 6.5 and a 5 1/4" mid bass in each door.

these will be dedicated mid bass drivers as i have plans for the top end being in kick panels. they would be crossed over from 80hz to 250hz.

the power requirements are different for each size but i have amps to work with.

Does this sound like a bad idea?

I wish but an 8" just wont fit without major, major mods that i don't want to do or have done to my truck but it seems like something i may have to look into and do if i want to get the mid bass output i am looking for.

Look at the old alpine 3-way type X set. The woofer is 6.5" and the mid is 5 1/4".

You could do that. I would not try to run the same frequency range to both drivers though.

BTW someone has that 3-way set for sale in the classifieds

Why can't you fit two 6.5's? Anything's possible with some fiberglass and motivation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Dual 6 1/2's would be awesome to have available. If you can't do 2 of those maybe you can do 2 5 1/4's but I would mix sizes to play the same frequencies.

Well with (2) 6 1/2 in the doors, where they would have to go, and the clearance issues i would have within the door i wouldn't be able to open the glove box with the doors closed. I could do something custom and fiberglass but it still won't fit where i want it to and look like a semi factory install.

I suppose i could drop 1 in the doors and 1 in the kicks but that would change the placement of the L4's i am planning to use. mehhh! Going crazy now!

Have you tried the 6.5 yet or are you makeing assumptions that they will not be enough.

I think you will be suprised especially if these are the SLS 6.5.

I would do my best to install the 6.5 and maximize them vs. a ton of modifications for 2 x 6.5.

No i haven't ran the sls's yet. i suppose i should just do my install with just 1 in each door and if that's not enough then look to mod for 2 of them.

I currently run polk momo series in the doors and i find the mid bass lacking but then again they are not dedicated nor do they have there own amp at this time.

give those momo comp set a amp and run 150rms per door and you will be happy
I am running the component set off my trust zapco reference 350 ( 100w x 2 ) and they do sound pretty good but i suppose i am looking for more impact but perhaps they would be fine being dedicated with there own amp. Might try that first!
