mtx1501d or orion1200D

hey my buddy has an orion 1200D hes selling for very cheap.. under 200. i currently have an MTX 1501D RUNNING IN 4 OHMS to push my idMAX. should i picc the orion 1200D up to run @ 1 ohm and switch it out with my MTX or should i continue using the MTX?

The Orion will more than definitely be pushing more power at 1 ohm than the MTX at 4ohm, there's no argument there. The only real problem is the Orion offers a 12dB and 24dB low pass crossover, while the MTX offers an 18dB low pass crossover. I personally loved MTX's crossover and the Orion's took some getting used to, but that's preference.

id keep the mtx and run it @ 1ohm rather than selling it and buying the orion...regardless, i wouldnt send that idmax either of the amps at 1ohm.

well im not planning to sell the MTX. and i totally agree about not pushing a single idMAX at 1 ohm with both amps.. well, maybe the orion as long as i watch the gain. but i think im going to buy the Orion anyway and just keep it in my closet.. maybe for the girlfriend when she gets her ride.. cuz at 175 its a steal, right???

i've got an audiocontrol EQX which has 24db crossovers. i didn't know the mtx used 18db crossover sloped.. i thought they were 24.

Well now that I've read it I'm not so sure it is 18dB / octave. I could have swore it was, but hookedontronics says otherwise.

yea im gonna buy the orion and just run the MTX. because when i get another idMAX and go sealed i can drop the load to 2 ohms and get close to 1800 watts from my MODDED mtx.. hopefully.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif the orion is going to sit in my closet and collect dust but i won't mind because ill know that i got a GREAT deal on it. and ill be using it in the future.. probably in the wifey's ride when she gets her license bacc.

i would like to. but my close friend is selling me the orion dirt cheap only because well.. im his close friend. i wouldn't feel right profiting off of him...
