hello everyone, i was looking on MTX's website and was looking at the subs ( the T5500 series) well anyways i went to a local dealer and tested them out and really like them but the thing that i don't like is that MTX says they should be ported to 38HZ well i listen to alot of rap music and want to know if the subs will still play below that frequencey most rap gets to the 30HZ mark? so i'm a little worried about purchasing these subs.. I also noticed that Rockford Fosgate is the same way with there woofers too, why do these companies do that? should i buy the MTX's? they will be for daily driving..

the exact model is: MTX T5515-04

There just factory recommendations. It doesn't say anywhere that you HAVE to follow them. If you want to maintain soundquality, then tune the box below 30hz or go sealed. If you liked how it sounded @ the dealer, then find out the details of the box and replicate the same thing (i.e. sealed/ported/volume/etc...)

okay, i thought since MTX recommended 38HZ that i had to follow that number, so if i tune it to like 30HZ it will hit to 30HZ? i'm just asking questions know so i don't make a mistake buying them and find out there usless to me.. The dealer had the subs in a ported box but i'm not sure exacally what it was tuned too..

Thanks for the reply

You can wire those subs up @8 ohms if they are both SVC4 ohm subs, and that amp will run fine after being tuned properly...

Like @maylar said, delay the turn on to the amplifier only. 3 to 5 seconds should take care of it.
