Tried searching this for more info, but couldn't find anything about it..

The shop i go to told me to get this to "take off" the "limiter" that Lexus cars have that limit the high frequencies or whatever..

I was thinking about getting an LC6 instead.. anyone know anything about it.

http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTXREQ

he didnt say it was top of the line or anything or something I NEED to get.. he just said it was a good alternate to the LC6.

P.S. does anyone know more about the thing that lexus does and how they restrict the frequency so that my bass cant hit the "high" bass notes???

im thinkin about gettin this RE-Q thing or an LC6 to help produce those notes again

It's a signal processor, it basically flattens the signal to start off with a clean slate. However, the Re-Q supposedly equalizes it after it is flattened. It's technically an alternative to not having a head unit, or for people who want to keep their stock hu's but want better sound. It's a must have if you want better SQ in your car on a stock HU as there is no other way really to get around the factory equalization. As you turn up the volume on your OEM HU, it lowers the bass output to protect the stock speakers.

Other companies that make MUCH BETTER versions of the Re-Q, In order from greatest to least.

Alpine PXE-H650 ~ Expensive, but the best one available right now

Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty ~ Almost as good as the PXE-H650, but much cheaper save $$$

JL Cleansweep ~ Still expensive, but only flattens the signal. Would require a seperate EQ to do as the other above units do already.

Re-Q ~ Don't know much about it, except it's like a low-end version of the 3Sixty

Sometime around Fall of 2007 JBL Will be releasing their MS-8 Processor which will blow all other signal processors out of the water that are currently available.

Don't really know to be honest, havent actually heard of it. Looks pretty decent actually.

Heres some info on it:

http://carsound.com/articles/publish/article_884.shtml

Some comments on it:

"New and somewhat older systems are utilizing advanced dsp and filtering on individual channels, thus you run the risk of limited bandwidth output. In the case of the crossfire four of the six channels are dedicated to the sub section while the doors are using the other two. In the case of other systems such as in the new e-class, Land rover, and BMW 5, 6, & 7 series each of the channels represents on of the 8 channels of the Logic 7 surround process, thus tapping them could lead to missing information during intergration."

"I just picked up an AudioControl LC6 Concert Series Six Channel Line ouput Converter. It's a pretty sweet unit, with outputs for subs, front and rear. Also has signal sensing so no need for an amp turn-on."

Apparently the LC6 is just a line-driver though. Doesn't seem to do what the others are intended to do.

well all i have are subs running under the stock HU, i dont really need to get something over the top.

ill probably just get the LC6 and maybe add on the epicenter later on the road.

Honestly, I'd stay away from LC6 and go with the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty. Brand new off of eBay for only $209.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate-3Sixty-1-Signal-Processor-399-99-MSRP_W0QQitemZ290131105098QQihZ019QQcategoryZ14931QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'd pay the extra $50 or so dollars over the LC6. Mainly because its proven that It does what it says (3Sixty.1), there's more feedback on it. You can find many more reviews and info on it. I have seen them installed in many applications and the result has always been satisfactory on the real.

So it's up to you, but personally I've never heard of this LC6 unit. So I would go with something that is more known, especially in the world of Signal Processors. Which are slowly blowing up in the Car Audio world, being that a lot of people now are looking to keep their Stock HU's. I'd just would try stay away from generic brands with this type of product.
