hey im new to car audio so this might be a dumb quastion but here it goes i just got 2 mtx 8000 in a pro banpass box i have a 1600 watt phoinex digital amp, i was just wondering what the setting for the amp shold be? like i said prob a stupid question but thought i would ask

to tell u the truth all/ i was just wondering what other have them set on because i got the subs off a friend and i have no idea what to set the amp on for thoes subs

12P01416 4 OHM

557 01-01-23

they are also mtx thunder 6000, not 8000s

Well, from what I've been able to dig up, the subs (not sure if they're tens or twelves - doesn't matter, same power handling on both) RMS at 250 watts @ 4 ohms. Peak is delivered at 500 watts at 4 ohms.

Next step would be to get me the specs and model of the amp.

well the subs are 12s

and the amp is a phoenix digital 4 ch 1600 w max amp 2 ohm stable

what else do u want to know

Ok, set the HPF (high pass filter) at around 70Hz, keep the LPF off, don't filter anything.

Bridge the amp down to two channels, and hook a sub to each channel. If you have the DVC subs (dual voice coil) wire each one to achieve a 2ohm load to each channel of the bridged amp. That way you can get as much power as you can out of the amp.

Turn the gains to about 1/3, and go up from there. Listen carefully and if you start to hear distortion under higher volumes, turn them down a bit.

Thats really it, I hope that helps, let me know if there's anything that needs clearing up or anything that I left out.

yeah you want to cut out any other frequencies above 70hz.

amp sub setup 101 : do not use ur high pass filter user ur low pass filter.

oh and something esle never go by the crossover marking on the amps they are always off.
