MTX 6500D Hidden Push Switch??????

Today I was going through some amps with my bother-in-law and he picked up the 6500D and was looking at it, he noticed a tiny hole by the hi input:uhoh: . He asked what it was for, I never even knew it was there:eyebrow: . He got something small enough to fit in there in it was a push switch of some sort. Does any one know what the h**l this is for, I am clueless, didn't even know it was there.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

It's a compression circuit. It's there to supposedly limit power when clipping or some shit. When modding an 81000d or a 1501d...this is part of the step of modding it along with removing a certain resistor...you UNdepress this button.

Sounds like it just limits gain to prevent clipping.

I don't know how to test whether it's on or off, isn't clipping bad for subs when you're pushing them?

I'd try and find out whether it's "in" or "out" before getting crazy with the bass.

The amp hasn't been used in a while, It has just been sitting. I never knew it was there and it never did any damage to any of the subs it was used on. I just want to know what it is before I hook it back up, since it has been tampered with now.

Today I took apart the amp to see what was up. There is a resistor missing right by the gain knob. I am guessing this amp is modded then. I bought this amp used and really never used it, hooked it up but never played music through it. I really dont much about MTX, I just bought it for hella cheap. Tommorrow I will connect her back up to see what it does.

I hooked up the amp and it dosen't work:( . It powers up but it is like the gain knob is very sensitive. It will paly music, but as soon as you touch the gain and raise it a notch it plays total distortion almost like a test note. I dont know what is wrong with it, I have had it for about a year and had never used it, luckily I only paid $20 for it. Thanks for your input.
