I got this MTX Thunder 4160 with a burned out cap, transistor, and a resistor. I got all of the right parts to it but I made a big time mistake of soldering the transistor on backward, I know don't say a thing. So when I powered it up, the amp smoked but only 2 transistors are damage. One I can replace, but the other one, it has one leg that solder won't stick no matter what. I guess the board is too burnt. What could I do to get the solder sticking? Right now I got 2 legs solder but the 3rd leg won't stick with solder. I wonder if it works with just the leg on the board without solder?

Also, I was not careful and burn the outer part of the square white ceramic piece which seem to be a capacitor but no internal part showing, would it still works?

I got photos below guys.

Thanks.

watch how much heat u put to it... sand the leg and u can use solder flux to make the solder stick.
You mean to sand the actual leg on the little transistor itself? Then put flux on the leg? Or flux on the board? As far as heat, what's the temp I should be at? I tried range 365C - 425C and none would stick.

Thanks.

yea sand the leg then use flux. i would run wire instead of trying to use those burnt traces.
Thanks. But the problem is the burnt area is so dark I can't even see the trace. The trace must be really tiny. MTX does not release the schematic diagrams.

You can wire those subs up @8 ohms if they are both SVC4 ohm subs, and that amp will run fine after being tuned properly...
