MTX 1501D requirements?

Alright, I dont know a whole lot about amps so be easy on me.

I think I'm going to buy a MTX 1501D amp to power 2 IDMax 12's at 2ohm. This will have the amp putting out 1500W @ 14.4V (supposing my truck does that).

Here are the questions:

1. By modding the amp I'm not letting out more power at the same ohmage, I am simply allowing myself to run it at a lower load so as to release more power right?

2. My alternator now is only a 60A. I KNOW i have to upgrade, but what is a safe size alternator for 1500-2000W.

3. I plan on doing the Big 3 upgrade but how necessary is it really?

4. Are capacitors worth anything and do I need one?

5. What size wire should i run from the amp to the subs? Bigger is better?

Thanks in advance for all the info!

1. i dont know, i never fully read the tutorial. but i think thats the jist of things.

2. 10a per 100 wrms is a guideline i see people go by. 150-200a would work. but your 60a alt should be fine for the meantime if you dont run it full tilt and have good ground points.

3. its very necessary.it makes the transfer of current between the batt/alt/amp less strenuous(sp?) on your electrical system. stock electrical wiring is 10-8 awg. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

4. the only time id run a cap is if i had done the big 3 and i still have a slight dim in the lights. or if your building a crossover.

5.12-10g should be fine from the amp to subs.

im sure someone will chime in and elaborate more...

ive run these amps alot, modded and unmodded, 2 at one time for a while.

full tilt it is capable of pulling 150amps according to MTX, probly 120-125amp full tilt on ur electrical. dont expect to be anywhere near 14.4 volts full tilt, i have a 90amp stock alty, big 3, dual 0awg power wire, and 2 red tops, and i was hovering right @ 12v getting 1250w out of a single 1501d.

if i were u i'd invest ina nice battery, for daily driveing id say an optima red top, if u plan on runnin the car off with the system on alot then do a yellow top. down the line a HO alty is the best bet, but if ur just gonna run one of these you should be fine with a nice abttery.

dont get a capacitor, thats a waste of money unless u have the alternator juice to back up ur electrical and back up the cap. otherwise help for the first 4 or 5 econds then be worthless....invest n better batteries.

this amp will run off 4awg wire BUT itll run more efficently off 0awg. i personally use 8awg speaker wire but you'll be fine with 10awg.
