MTX 1501D question

the birth sheet says "max power 1136watts RMS 2ohm 12.5 volts".

i thought max power=peak power...why does it say 1136watts RMS?

shouldn't the true RMS be measured at 14.4 volts? if so, then what is this amp truly capable of at continuos 2omh load?

will the amp last longer if i run it at 4ohms or is it made to run at 2ohms?

BTW i got this amp for $305 w/tax...is this a decent price?

how come i don't hear much about this amp...does it have problems?

It is not rated at 14.4v because your car cannot provide that much voltage consistantly,so its rated lower.

No man, this amp is a kick *** amp, i have one and it blows everything away, and 305 w\ tax is a **** good price

is it better to run it at 4 ohms or is it made to run at 2 ohms? it will make a difference as to which sub/subs i'm going to get....which BTW is killing me to make a decision. :stuck:

it is ratted at 12 volts because all original companies ratted at 12volts, so if it is advertised at 1000 at 12 and yours is birthed at 1136 at 12 then once you install that sucker and turn your engine on your going to have much more than the advertised 1500@ 14.4 I would expect something in the 1700 range, hells good price for that many watts

i just want the amp to last. i figured if i only run it at 4 ohms then the amp won't be pushed hard. i know my sh!t when it comes to home theater audio ( i have an SVS PB2+ sub the rattles the neighbors dishes ACROSS the street) but i'm trying to learn the car audio side now.
