MTX 12'' 4500 thunder series vs JL 12w1v2

I have the MTX right now but i wanted to upgrade and somebody said that i should get the JL 12w1v2s. I have only 1 MTX sub and i would be getting 2 JLs. I was wondering if comparing just 1sub to 1sub which would be better overall because the RMS and wattage are about the same but i dont have much experience with subs or nething and i no JL are pretty top of the line. I would have a Alpine MPR -450 powering it.

JL is not top of the line....it is just expensive because you are buying a name

Are you looking to upgrade sound quality or loudness? JL subs have a history of sounding good. I think the w1v2s sound good for the price. If you went with two then you would be upgrading your loudness as well. Are you interested in going ported?

well i have heard that getting a closed box would be better bc of the sound quality. i want to upgrade both i gess. is that to much to ask..ha

i think is better you change your sub by mtx 5512 and 5500 its so difirent to4500 ( the sound and ouality and power) and 5512 it s good sub in this price

My JLW1.v2 is ported and Ive been powering it with a 150watt Alpine amp for 2yrs. Its pretty loud and goes low. It has always impressed me.
