MTTX 1501D: Not getting the power it i hoped

I apologize for the heading:

This could be for a number of reasons, Mainly, the fact that I am running 4 guage schoche wire right now, which is practically 5 guage wire. This is on a tock elec as well. I'm only using a 60amp fuse as well.

- I am running a JBL 180.2 to my fronts and the MTX 1501d to my Type R 12" at 2ohms.

- My head unit is a Pioneer DEH-6800MP. So my output voltage is only 2v or so.

- I just got the MTX amp back from mtx and it is benched at 1071 @ 2ohms at 12.5 volts.

- My car voltage bounces around 13.8-13.4 while on, whether my stereo is on or not.

- With my system on it never drops below 13.4

With the gain cranked above half - 3/4 with my sub-out at 0, It starts to move the R a bit but it seems like at that level, it should be able to move Two R's nicely...

Any ideas on what to do? When using my DMM, the voltage fluctuates and i can't get a good reading... i need a new one.

Thanks for the help

well lets figure this out.....if each type r is dual 4, wired to two ohms, and then both subs in parrallel for 1 ohm, your getting the 1k wattage divided by 4 into each coil....so 250 a coil maybe at maximum? not alot bro.

i only have it running to one 12" R //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

any other ideas man? i know you can help me out

ohh it sounded like ya had two...my bad bro.
dunno man, swap out with another amp next?
i just got it back from mtx so i know it is good... i only have 2v preouts so it is possible that i need to crank the gain to get the power i need... i'm just afraid of setting it with a working dmm and finding out that i'm clipping the piss out of it. I can get the sub to wang now, doesn't show signs if distress (i baby my stuff for the most part) so i guess as long as the amp doesn't get past luke warm and i go easy on the sub, it'll be alright.

On a side note... This r 12" friggn wangs... to my ear it isn't much difference than the 15" R i had off of a concept cc-d1200. Must be my hatch... or the box?

Thanks though guys... next step is 0 guage wire and a bigger fuse!

did you decrease the amp's input sensitivity? (i think that's the term, I'm not really sure)
my cheap hifonics was at 8v then i turned it down to around 1ish and it was louder. lol
not exactly sure how, besides the gain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
