no it doesn't. the wave still occilates just like a normal sinewave. the speaker never stops for a brief period.under powering a sub will not make it "blow". if its under powered and you try to compensate by bass boost and gaining the crap out of the amp, thus sending a cliped signal.
a clipped signal is not a round looking sound wave its square on both sides when its square the sub is not moving thus not cooling, when the MT does not cool. bad things happen
Also with low power in general.. They have a few cooling problems, even dave will tell you they shouldn't be used for daily, low notes, or anything other than burps (not low note burps). At low notes the VC tends to rub since they have a tighter gap than usual, and bad at low power apps for the same reason clipping is bad. It doesnt allow enough air moving around the VC, and the problem is just exagerated with the MT's cooling system...under powering a sub will not make it "blow". if its under powered and you try to compensate by bass boost and gaining the crap out of the amp, thus sending a cliped signal.

this is what''s being discussed....The XXX is re's chosen daily driver sub....the mt doesnt come with a warranty and they reccomend not running it daily. Not having any expierence with the MT I really dont know how it does for daily driver but according to alot of people they can be ran nicely on a daily setup and with the right setup they can be made to sound decent and have a good low end. I would take the xxx over the mt personally...just because it can get lower and will sound better....but you also have to take in consideration that the xxx falls off around 60hz....it wont have as much output at 60hz as it would 20hz...But I chose the xxx because of that, my last sub couldnt hit any notes that wells under 33hz....so its all about what your looking for in the sub.would a xxx be any better for daily?
