Mt blew

My amps are only 1/4 of the way up. i have (2) orion 2500d's hooked up. one of my MTs was brand new and then i had one that only had a few hours on it. i started playing them and out of nowhere the used one blew. the voice coils started popping and it sounded like crap. i had my subwoofer level on my headunit set to -5 and the volume was low. i have had them set up for probably 2 months now and never had a problem. all the sudden the one blew. what could have caused this? and how do i get it fixed?

what all is included in a recone kit? i dont know exactly what to do either. would that fix the voice coils? im thinking about just sending it into FI to have them fix it

Fi's turn around time could take a while as they are quite busy with orders and custom orders and such. you're better off just buying a recone kit from RE for the MT since you already have an 2 MT's(which if i understand correctly). if you have an MT with original RE parts and another MT with Fi parts it would be like running 2 different subs(not entirely but in theory).

a recone kit will be everything you need. look into this thread

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156059

basically shows you everything that will come in a recone kit from RE for the MT.

my new sub was reconed by FI because the basket cracked during shipping but the warranty expired and had to send it to FI cause RE said they would not deal with the public.

ah, well if you have one fi hybrid and a blown re sub then just send the blown to fi or order a recone kit and do it yourself. doing it yourself will save you a nice amount since shipping MT's can get pricey.

im not having much luck at all. i had everything installed by CN sounds in fort wayne. Chris Norris is suppost to be 5 time world champion for db races and the box i had him build for $350 pretty much fell apart and when he wired everything he just ran a positive from the alt. to the other batts and then a ground from the engine block back and there are no fuses at all. i need to learn how to install my own stuff but this is my first audio system and i dont know how to do anything yet

contact team psi on this forum. he can send a rebuild for the mt.
you must have not read the post in the thread...

he has 1 MT with a new recone from Fi.. his second MT which had origianl parts from RE blew. so his better option would be to go back to Fi and get a new recone for his second MT and run 2 hybrid MTs with Fi soft parts....

as for the op, that sucks about your install.. learning how to setup you equipment is easy. just do some research on the forum and ask a few questions(search before you ask) and doing the installation will be a sinch.

good luck man.

id expect to see your stuff blow soon. get some fuses.

Just making sure, you have 1 orion per MT, or is that two orions per MT?

If it's one orion, make sure that your IntellQ settings are correct and match the porting of your box. If its lower than your box is tuned, it can be hell on the suspension of the MT. I've never had trouble with my MT and my orion, might just be a fluke of bad luck for you :/

If it's two orions per sub, I know that the orions are not strappable stock, so if you have a dual 1 ohm sub with two orions on it, if one orion is a little different than the other, it can cause trouble.

But your problem is probably just a weird fluke with one woofer, and if you have team psi recone it (if he has Fi soft parts), hes a good guy and can get it done well. Otherwise, Fi can do it and you can get this headache out of the way.

Oh, and get some fuses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
