Mp3 (320) vs wav in high spl

Question about mp3 vs wav. Do you guys recommend .wav files when really romping on a track? I am fully aware of the technical differences between the two formats, I'm just wondering if the sub's and f/r speakers would suffer unnecessarily with high quality mp3s. Again, I'm fully aware that wav files are superior, and flac is even better yet, but I think y'all get my gist here

for SPL demos it doesn't matter at all. Absolutely zero difference. If you can hear a difference that just means your 320 kpbs isnt a true 320kbps rip but rather a copy of some 128kbps ripped but transcoded in 320kbps. For example some songs i downloaded off pirate bay is labeled 320kbps, file is 320kbps but on spotify it sound waaaay better than that file on a usb. Thats how i knew that was a fake bitrate file. A few people even commented on it.

Without a doubt I can hear the difference in 320k vs flac.

The files size doesn't lie..

yeak, the 128 kb stuff is garbage. Most stuff i try to rip myself if i can. I hit up pawn shops for cd's on the cheap to get the highest quality direct rips whenever possible. My cd collection is pretty silly actually LOL I also worked at a Guitar Center for a few years and many of the dudes i worked with would bring boxes of CD's in at a time and id spend my free time ripping true 320 versions of everything they had, vastly expanding my music collection. Sadly, at the time i was doing that, i didnt set up itunes to make versions with proper ID3 tags, so a good many of them have those stupid 4 alpha character title names. I have, over time, gone thru and done the "make mp3 version of..." for certain albums and deleting the old stupidly named files with the proper ones readable by any mp3 device. Time consuming, but overall worth it. Anyways, thanks for the input guys! I know i ask some inane questions sometimes, im just appreciative of the knowledge you guys share //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i never use 320 unless i HAVE NO CHOICE. i use flac but wav is fine too. compression leaves a bit to be desired but its not terrible. if you can use flac or wav
I was wondering also if the big dogs used something like sa-cd or DVD audio for their source material as flac and wav both have their inherent flaws. Hell, if I remember correctly, there is a significant rolloff in higher and lower frequencies on anything less than sa-cd or DVD audio. I guess I'll just put a vinyl player in my car lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

world finalist SQ car i heard used Itunes bluetooth and sh*t was magnificent.

judging will be judged on the meca cd. For music, you wont hear a difference between flac or true 320kbps. No matter how much you think you are, blind tests will prove you wrong lol.

I have a set of high end head phones and i've put a lot of people to the test between 320kbps and flac and made them guess which is which out of 20 attempts. They really couldnt tell a difference and were just guessing blindly No one got more than 11 right out of 20. the one that got 11 right uses skullcandy and beats... he was just basically lucky with his guesses. The audiophiles did worse.

Naw. Flac is nearly lossless when you rip. Not only that you can rip audio off DVD in 24 bit depth.. rip it flac and get better the CD sound.

320 sounds good if you know what to look for you can hear it.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
i know exactly what nuances to look for. The reference headphones i'm using are way beyond any car audio system in terms of full detail, accuracy, clarity, instrument seperation and soundstage. senhheiser hd 800 with a schiit jotenheim amp/dac.

so what your saying is you can't hear the differences?

i'm saying in a car environment there are no differences.
oh i disagree. i had hotel California in 320 16/44000 and 24/48000 and i couldn't tell the difference in 16 or 24 if i had to guess it would be very hard and at maximum volume but i could tell 320 NO doubt. it had a higher noise floor the very top end and very bottom end changed and the mid range was not as defined..

Speaking of Itunes, anyone ever have problems when you down load Decaf zips and extract them and they play fine on my computer in itunes but once i sync them to my Ipod a high percentage wont play? I tried resetting my ipod and reloading software to current SW and reloading music and still nothing , tried deleating file out of Itunes and readding it and still nothing.

woah, wait. What? deleting and replacing and no difference? Sounds like a HDD problem man, not a file issue. Itunes is a thorn in mt proverbial side because i hate on anything apple related (after 1987, that is) but what youre describing sounds like a storage, or windows issue. I wish there was a prog similar to itunes that didnt **** in the same way that itunes does. It has a (fairly) simple GUI, sure, but gawd it ***** badly otherwise.... I seriously dont get why an android user hasnt engineered a usable physical format for car audio enthusiasts. For a plain example, Pioneer has created the plainly AWESOME prs80. Ok, cool, why not make that available to the double din guys with a FREE OS from google and make it customizable from there?? Turns out, that Android is nearly as free form as needed... Ugh, just annoying that the mainstream deck developers havent grabbed on.
