Mounting my 20.1

I'm thinking about mounting my 20.1 since I have some free time now and my 18" Fi BTL is being built...

I was told to run another 1/0 awg from the front to the back... since my original 1/0 is hooked up to the distribution block and made a few 4 awg. My dad is "old school" when it comes to car stereo, he's smart as hell, but he thinks I'll be okay giving the 4 awg to my 20.1.

He doesn't want me tearing apart the car to try and force another run of 1/0 pretty much. What's going to happen if I use the 4 awg power and ground with the 20.1?

I want to know the same thing, Iv heard if you put 4g wire to a 2k+ amp that it will basicly melt the plastic/rubber from the wire and youl have a big mess. but then Iv heard itl be just fine.... so I would like to know what would really happen too befor I make a big mistake

Well my comps came with tweeters and I blew them somehow... so I went for an easy replacement, bought ones that would fit in the stock location (right under front windshield in dash) and had a warranty in case they blew.

Care to recommend replacements? I was kind of thinking...everyone here works on their front and doesn't use stock 6 x 9's... and me, I have to cut my rear deck for SPL... was wondering if maybe I should improve the front and ditch the rears? What recommendations do you have for me nG?

My electrical is stock... I don't have the money ATM to get me a HO alternator ($300 for 200 amp) and I already have the amp, and the sub should be here in a week. I've been without bass for about 2 weeks now, so I figured I'd throw something together to be able to enjoy my 20.1 + 18" BTL until I have the money to make it a good install.

I would recommend a nice set of components, possibly something you could bi-amp with your two highs amplifiers. Look into some Boston Z6's... or many others...

You could either modify your stock location and propery deaden it...

Or you could fiberglass some kickpanels/doorpods //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

If you amplify a nice set of components up front, there is no need for rears at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I would recommend at least doing the Big3 in 1/0, and replacing your stock battery with a deep cycle (Yellow Top, or even a cheaper equivalent... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ).

And to the original question... I answered it.

Werd.

I hate ******* a McDonalds milkshake from a regular straw!!

I guess I'll see if I can run the 0 gauge myself since my dad is too lazy to help me out with it. I think I read in the manual that I need to fuse it right before the amp and again before the battery? 200 amp fuse?

I think I love you.
JK, but thank you for you recommendations. I have a 770 or so CCA battery that I purchased when I needed to replace the battery... the only Optima that would fit under the hood is a group 32 Red Top (don't hold me to that!), which I believe is around 770 CCA.

Nah, the regular YT should fit too.

Also, those LHS's **** to work on... well... at least the few I worked on did.

**** everytime I set a budget and a list of what I'm going to do it gets bigger.

New plans:

Deaden car (probably with Second Skin), get rid of the rears, cut the rear deck, get rid of the two DA amps and probably get a Kicker 650.4 a friend is selling, get a Pioneer 880 PRS, Boston Z6 comps, install the BTL 18" I ordered, find room for an Optima in the trunk and run another thing of 0 gauge to the 20.1 and setup the 20.1, get a 200 amp alternator... lots of stuff to do.

BTW, going active (I think)!

Goal: have it completed by the end of September.
