Motor dead? Eclipse CD5100

ok. i'm severely upset... my eclipse cd5100 consistently has CD's stuck.

i hit the reset button, the faceplate motor goes up and down fine, but for some reason the motor to eject the cd does NOT eject the cd regardless of how many times i press the eject button OR the manual reset button.

it would read the cd fine, play the music fine, then all of a sudden after switching to a new song, everything goes silent like the cd isnt reading the cd anymore. no data displays on the unit. i press eject the faceplate goes down, but no cd comes out.

the display works, does the fancy backgrounds, but as far as showing MP3 details...it doesnt...meanwhile theres a cd in and it worked fine TWO seconds ago...

as soon as the music stops, i attempt to eject, and thats when it stays in there.

previously i kept hitting reset and on like the 5th time the cd would FINALLY eject with this weird noise..

but this time, nothing is ejecting. i can only listen to the radio at this point..

i got it off sonic electronix after having issues with my CD5000. they told me to send it back with all the parts etc and i would have to wait 6-8 weeks for repair. i told them thats BS i cant wait that long, so they told me of an option buying this CD5100 - and now less than i believe 3 or 4 months, the unit is screwed.

on top of that i don't have the original box it came in, nor the remote.. i mean i could buy a replacement and send the remote and unit back to sonic electronix, but i know they are ANAL about their return policies and if you don't have EVERYTHING including the original box, you're screwed apparently.

now i paid close to $400 for a unit that doesn't work. greeaaaat.

anyone know if theres a way to fix this manually?

No fixes. You have a problem with the unit. I had this problem with my first CD7100. Did you contact them again with the issue? After all you've been through with it they should have to replace it with a new unit.

Have you cleared he face of the unit to open comletely? Meaning, in the fully open position does the face hit any of the dash panels?

well the thing is, the is the SECOND eclipse HU i got from sonic electronix. my 5000 had issues, now this 5100 has issues.

i heard some people talking about lubing up the mechanisms (the rollers on the right and left) with wd40 and its actually helped a few people out with stuck cd's.

i called eclipse, since i bought from a non authorized i basically have to pay $165 for them to LOOK at the unit, + whatever material fees i would need.

i said go kick rocks. i left a message for the SE warranty manager to give me a call back, if he doesnt call tomorrow morning im calling and telling him to send me a brand new cd5100 and i will send this one back, if he wont do that then ill just say ok have fun dealing with VISA because im opening a dispute with them and you.

You can't expect eclipse to cover something that they do not authorize.

Sonic should help you but if not,wd40 it is I guess. You should have bought from an authorized dealer.

well "my bad" for being duped by a supposed authorized dealer, their salesmen made no mention that they werent allowed to sell their equipment.

anyway, it looks like im going to be filing a dispute with my credit card company and having the whole process started where they basically arent providing me the services i paid for, one being working equipment and two being a voided warranty that should not be voided.

im looking at an alpine 9883 with ipod adapter, $230 + shipping... not bad coming from crutchfield with a full warranty on everything + authorized alpine dealer

thanks, i would go for the 9885 but i dont think a remote + 4volt preouts is worth $100

You know, the cde-9881 is a pretty good value, you can do ipod with and all and it sounds great, have one in the gf's car. You might save yourself a few bucks and get that. $180ish shipped from crutch.
