most powerful DC power supply on the market?

idk what your trying to accomplish but i use a car battery charger to charge a small 20ah agm battery and it works great for playing with amps hu's etc. cheapest way to do such. only about 80 - 100 bucks.

what is a DC power supply ????

Yeah, large display, Multiple HU's, amps, etc.

Let me know if you figure anything out bubba. Until then, I will try to search more.

Having designed power supplies and battery chargers for a living, I'll give you my input on this. There are 2 basic types of DC power supplies - switching and linear. Linear supplies are simple but require an iron core transformer. A transformer for 200 amps would not be off-the-shelf, it'd have to be custom made. It'll also need a hand truck to carry. Switching supplies are smaller and lighter but at that power level building one would be expert level electronics. And you still need a custom made high power torroidal transformer.

So, my advice is keep your eyes open on eBay. But remember that 2500 watts of 14V is gonna be a heavy item to ship.

Edit: Just an idea - if you're mechanically able.. a 200 amp car alternator driven by a 220 V AC motor? Lessee.. 746 watts per hp means you need about a 3.3 hp motor. Just throwin' out ideas..

This is what we use. Ten 26 amp supplies tied together and we run it on 220v -- but these will accept 110 as well... they are cheap on e-bay and have been SUPER reliable for us as we use them every single day pretty hard.

Hit the nail on the head. The more I thought about it the more I thought it would need to be a switching supply which starts to get above my head (even though we covered basic ones in class). Would have been fun to build one though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lol wouldn't that be very costly and somewhat inefficient to run for hours on end?

I'll check these out on ebay. Did you just parallel all of the powers and grounds without them shutting off?

Sweet. I checked eBay and found a 30 amp model S-350-12 for like 36 bucks. Had no idea they were that cheap. They look to be made by Meanwell. We use their stuff in industrial automation where I work. Very reliable. I believe they have 13.5V and 15V versions as well.

I assume you isolated each one from the others through a power diode? Schottkey maybe?

EFFF I'm guessing you can't just parallel them. I have 2 matching 950w power supplies but they shut off if I try to parallel them and run a single amp one them. What his this power diode or shottkey you speak of?
