what 15" sub have the most potential im not looking for a high class spl sub or a one note wonder..i think im going to have a enclosure designed to have my subs firing into the cabin...im sorry for posting a thread similar to my last i just want to get all the info i can before i purchase my subs within the next week or so.

since all these subs basically require the same size enclosure (3-4 cf) no need to post that, power will be no more that 1600/per.

GOAL-loud as hell and able to take a beating daily and sound good doing it

DC level 4XL

FI BL (4"coil & Flatwind)

Sundown Z

SA-15

I have used fully loaded BL's with the 3in coil, and they are great street beat subs, but im sure that 4in coil wont let you down, never played with any sundown subs, but the xl looks like a beast...I would choose that

i actually am trying to get rid of an AMAZING motor. thing is no one has heard of it and it is unproven. i ran it as an 18 in my car. the BL is 30.1 so it has the capability to get loud musically and for tones. it sounds phenomenal on music.

Well, the primary specs are going to be Vd (volumetric displacement, which is determined with Sd and Xmax) and long term RMS power handling.

Then you need to look at the frequency range, which is hard to do because it's determined by many factors such as Fs (resonant frequency, limits the low end), Le (voice coil inductance, limits the high end), box size/design, etc.

Then there's the question of distortion, which is even harder to figure out without measuring...

If you're giving something a certain amount of power without hitting the max of the the driver then another important spec is sensitivity, for it determines how much sound you're going to get per watt. A 91dB 1W/1m speaker @ 1000W is going to be as powerful as an 88dB 1W/1m speaker @ 2000W. Power is FAR from everything.

Designing a speaker system is quite a complex task.

FWIW, Fi BTL specs quite a high sensitivity, as does the AA Mayhem. Not sure what else has both high sensitivity and high Vd/power handling. Peerless XLS and XXLS have high sensitivity but can't touch the other mentioned stuff in either Vd OR power handling.

Fi over all...the DC's arent as well made
Got proof? I have seen many dc's take 2x-3x there rated power and used daily and there still holding together??

I would save up a few more bucks and go with a nightshade. Yep that's right i would take a shade over a btl or lvl5 all day. Buy right the first time and there will be no need to buy again down the rd.

Ive been talking to a DC dealer about it and i talked to jacob

So a DC dealer told you that his subs are made with cheap parts?? I've never heard of Jacob ever saying anything bad about another company's product.

on a burp that sa-15 will take it but i wouldn't do more than 1k for 1 daily
No doubt I have seen a sa-10 on a gp-3000 and it never failed. But I think he said he was looking for daily and with the power he say's he will have on tap that SA would prob not last very long.
