Ok so im on my 4th setup and this is the first one that is going to be more than one sub. so the Wiring for what wattage i want to get has always been straight forward. so if i have 2 SVC dual 2s wired to 1ohm, and i have an mono amp thats rated at 1000watts at 1ohm, will each driver get the 1000 watts, or is the wattage devided by the 2 drivers?

Sorry this is so basic. i just never had more than one driver so i never knew... thanks.

The power is divided among the drivers wired on that channel according to how they are wired, but it is always divided.

Just as a note, you can't have SVC dual 2's. They either single coil (SVC) or dual coil (DVC). I'm guessing that you have 2 2 ohm single coil subs?

the "dual" was a typo. this is also the first time im using SVCs so my mind is still thinking dual...

Yep.

The power has to be divided.

No matter how many drivers are attached to the same output, at *whatever resistance you are presenting the amp* Ohms your amp puts out X number of watts.

The sheer amount of drivers doesn't change that output - only the particular way in which you wire them.

So - if your amp outputs 1kW @ 1 Ohm then no matter whether you use 1 sub or 20 to achieve that 1 Ohm load the amp still makes 1kW and no more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

without hijacking this thread. Arn't most subs that are dual vc rated per coil for example is the BTL 2000wrms per coil correct? so you saying I should be starting with a 4000wrms amp to power it?

The RMS rating on a sub is for the sub overall regardless of the specific VC configuration.

A 2000w SVC sub takes the same amount of power as a 2000w DVC or 2kW QVC sub.

Just the wiring differs is all.

Ok thanks for clearing that up because I always see some manufactures that state 2000wrms or some state something like 2000wrms per coil

The only ads I have ever seen that mention RMS wattage per coil are ones where those statements are found in addition to the actual RMS rating on the sub too.
