and what headunit and spaekers are you going to buy for 300 bucks? if you were to buy both brand new you would be in well over 450 on the internet. retail close to 650.

crutchfield has polk's db series on sale right now, componets or full range mix and match buy 1 get 1 half off until june 20th. that could be to your advantage.

they look about the same only the frequency range doesnt go as low....or high, they take more power to run, and they still do cost a bit more, at least the ones that are fit to my car

Kenwoods hit pretty hard for Coax speakers. My KFC 1789ie's (or was it 1739ie. bleh) 3ways sounded good in my jeep.

But 6.5/6x9 bass doesn't compare to a true sub setup.

To be quite honest... with that budget and off head unit power it's not going to make much of a difference what speakers you buy. two pair of alpine Type R coaxials should keep you in your budget.

and with components i have to get a kickpanel and everything right?....so thats even more money yet...

get a hu and get cadences on ebay for 75. They are incredible. Comps are amazing

Components aren't definitively better than 2-ways, i'd rather have a good set of coax speakers than a cheap pair of components.

A cheap pair of components have more things that could be crappy than coax speakers, too. More places and parts to skimp on to save $$.
