im putting new speakers in my car and i only have 300 for the headunit and 4 speakers...so i was wondering what 6.5 coaxials would give me the most bass running straight from the headunit?.......i think im gunna try to get some 3 or 4 ways for the front cuz up tehre im more worried about mid-high clarity.....im getting a kenwood x589 and that puts out 22 watts rms and 4 volts so i guess im just wondering what speakers produce the most bass and what ones have the clearest mid-highs in my price range.........some help would be nice...thanks

nate

Your not going to get the results you want of coaxials, especially off the headunit.....you need to do your homework....

Decent comps, amps, sound deadening, and if thats not enough, subs....

Best bet is gonna be adding some dynamat, to see if that helps any, or maybe some speaker baffles?

If you were trying to avoid subs, i WOULD recommend sealed kickpods, but that would require components or seperate tweeters, and probably a lot more power.

Try some dampening material, tho, and see if that helps.

not enough money for components....the headunit alone is gunna take up at least 160 gives me about 150 for 2 sets of speakers....n ive done enough homework to know i cant get new components for 75 dollars a pair...not even close

anyways im not talking about huge bass...just the most solid bass i can get off of coaxials....n i can always use the hi-pass n the lo-pass to put more bass to the back n the mid-high's to the front if that'l make them any clearer

i admit i dont know alot but i know a lil...and thats that with my budget im not gunna be able to get anything great

I don't know what brand you want, but you can get alpines, kenwoods, sonys, blaupunkts, jbl, soundstream, rockford fosgate, and a ton of other brands for under $75 a pair on ebay.

If you got your head unit on ebay too, maybe you'd have more money to spend also.

i dont know what brand i want....i want whatever produces the most bass...so do i just want whatever runs on the lowest wattage, has the lowest frequency output, and the highest sensitivity?

I usually recommend type-r's. I don't have too much experience with their 2-ways, but they do fine off of the hu's output, and if you decide to do an amp later, they'll love it even more.

I had a pair of the rockford fosgate 6.5's from best buy last year in my jetta, and i was a little disappointed. My favorite head unit-powered speakers ever were a pair of kenwoods. Got real loud with the head unit, and had great sound.

Type-r's, or some kenwoods would be my two picks. And a lot of people believe 2-ways can sound just as good as components, so i wouldn't worry about that if you don't want to.

i was looking at kenwood kfc-1789ie's......they have pretty good stats (rms, frequencies, etc...) and their 3 ways.....so do you think 4 of them would be good or should i get 2 different pairs?

You could try a pair in the fronts, and if you like them get two more for the back, or if you don't, get a different pair for the fronts and put the kenwoods in the back.

The back really isn't important, i fade my stereo all the way up front unless someone's actually sitting in the back.

Or if you're ever considering doing some components, you could get the kenwoods and put them in the front, leave the factory speakers in the back, and then when you get components, put them in the front and put the kenwoods in the back

my problem is all my speakers are blown and im probably selling the car in a couple years and im gunna try to take the headunit with me and use the better speakers to sell the car....so i need to replace all of them really.....

You'll see what i mean about fading to the front when nobody's in the car. I've got type-r components in the rear, and a pair of kenwood 25th anniversary components in the front. The type-r's have more midbass (because of a 1/2 *** install on the kenwoods) but the tweeters sound way different. The alpines are really bright, and instense, while the kenwoods' tweeters have more of a natural, full bodied sound, and it's weird getting hit with both depending on how i move around in my seat. I 1/2 way wish i saved some money on my amp and just got a 2-channel and forgot about rear fill.

you could just put some $30 speakers in the rear. They'll get drowned out by your good speakers up front. Those kenwoods, and the type-r's are both really efficient for their power handling, so it shouldn't be a problem.

take a look at either the pioneer tsd-170r's or the diamond d361's. the pioneers will be louder but the diamonds will be a little smoother sounding. if you wanted some diamond components, i can give you a great deal on some if you dont mind used. i also have a brand new eclipse (3403) that i can give you a good deal on. if you dont mid the used speakers, then you can have some better gear at a great price. pm me if interested.
