are they the same thing pretty much considering they have the same name kinda. The more renaissance looks alot uglier crossover wise but they are much cheaper. thanks
They are not the same.
It's sort of a long story of how it came to be, but the skinny of it is that there used to be one "Morel", located in and operating out of Isreal. One of the owners of Morel came to America to open a distributorship for Morel products (the owners were related, either brothers or cousins, can't remember off hand). A feud began between the owners and Morel USA split off from Morel "Isreal", however both refused to drop the "Morel" name, and both claimed to have the patent rights to the speaker designs used by Morel Isreal. So, Morel USA [Renaissance] began producing essentially the exact same speakers as Morel Isreal, and continued to brand them as "Morel" speakers. As you can tell, this was very confusing for consumers. A legal battle between the two Morel's began, and the new names (Morel Hifi [isreal] and Renaissance Audio Group [Morel USA]) are the result of that legal battle. Morel USA was forced to change it's name.
Now, in the beginning, the products were very similar. Almost identical. However, over time the product differentiation has grown, and they are now less-similar than they were. It's to the point that now most newer products are completely different between the two companies. It's only the "classic" drivers that share major similarities.
So, to answer your question......no, they are not the same. But I hear great things about both of them.
