Which would get louder, 2 Kicker CVR 12's, ported, or 2 Memphis PR 15's sealed? With the CVR's, I'd run them at the rms, with the Memphis I'd send about 300-400 to them. The reason I'm asking is becuase both can got new for under $200. Also I was looking at the Pioneer Premier 126's(Pioneer 306's) and the JBL GT150d http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GT150D&cat=SUB&ser=GTS Again, the 12's would be ported, and the 15's sealed. Anyone had experience with these subs?

Of course everyone is going to recommend CompVR's. But have you two actually heard Memphis PR's? I doubt it. My friend has 2 12" CompVR's sealed powered by a KX600.1 in a Civic. Pretty nice setup, gets loud, sounds decent. When I was at a local shop, I took a listen to 2 12" PR's sealed off an MC-500D in an Acura TL and the Memphis setup sounded better to my ears. More accurate, cleaner at high volumes, and were punchy opposed to the the CompVR's which were more of a loud, boomy type. Oh, I also forget to mention the Memphis PR's were noticeably louder to the ear, not by a ton, but it was audible. Take this however you want. If you want to be like everyone else, run Kicker. I'm not bashing them in any way because I really like them but I give credit to where credit is due and here, the PR's deserve it.

PR > CompVR, IMO

Ive heard both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif But the CVRs will have more output ported than the PRs sealed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Ive heard both and they CVRS get louder in my opinion... but that is also instal dependent

Also your buddy is under powering his.... remeber that...

sealed VS ported, regadless of which sub of the 2 you buy

the ported ones will bo louder - I dont see why the comparison was set this way

If it were me Id buy which ever took the most power and for the cheapest price:eyebrow:

12's ported against 15's sealed? why will the ported be louder? the 15's have more cone area to make up for the box. all in all, the 15's sealed will have a good chance to ba at least as loud as the 12's ported, especially if the 12's are tuned low for daily.

from my experience, same box, same amp, same vehicle, same size woofer..the pr's kick the hell outa the cvr's. and this is multiple switch outs. not just the occasional one. i work part time at a shop who sells kicker and memphis and have done alot of h2h comparisions, for the money, you can't beat a memphis pr sub. not with a kicker sub anyway. and i'm not dogging kicker, i run a kicker sub in my truck, loud and low baby!! but at the entry to mid level, memphis kinda owns kicker IME.

but i agree with the 2 12's ported memphis pr idea. 2 cubes each tuned to 34hz...yep...nasty baby. here's a quick pick of a three 12 memphis pr setup off a mtx1501d....this truck is sick loud.

and my truck, just for giggles...

mrray, that's a nice install with those 3 12's did you do it? Also I'm going to run 3 15" PR's.... You suggest any amps? They will be ported. Everyone tells me on here that the 3 15" PR's wont touch 2 L7 15's, but I think they will due to more cone area.

yeah, i did that install.....and with the way u posted ur other thread, i think the L7's would win as well..lol....even witht he added cone area, ur giving the L7's double the power....

but if that's the way u want o proceed....if u can match impedence (or real close) those three twleves are pushed by an mtx 1501d..it is sick loud.

other options...

orion 1200d

memphis 1000d or 1500d

kicker 1200.1

hifonics 1605d (i think)

those just off the top of my head....i wouldn't feed pr's much more then 400wrms each...more then that and ur really asking them to blow up..lol...

So considering your saying those 3 PR 12's are sick loud, and it looks like their sealed. What do you think about 3 PR 15's ported.

not sealed, look at the top of the box....big dark square....almost 70in^2 of port...6ft^3 box tuned to 34hz....

three 15" pr's ported with the right power would indeed be very loud.
