Well I posted last night asked about having to use a y splitter cable, and i got mixed opinions, so i just tried it with the normal rca's to see what would happen.

Turned on my hu, sound came out fine from my speakers, but my amp didnt turn on...thus having no subwoofer sound.

So...i connected the power wire to the positive terminal, the little metal loop at the end ( not sure what its called ) is on the screw and the bolt is tightened over it on my battery terminal. As far as i can see, the remote turn on is wired correctly...and i think my grounds are fine..

So what should I do? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Car audio is making me depressed. Idk what the problem is.

Could the problem be that im not using the y splitter? The amp wont even turn on ugh.

how would he go about using the DMM to find the problem? because im his freind and i have a DMM he could use...but im not sure where to use it.

have you got the amp to turn on at all? use the multimeter on dc volts, and check your powere wire, make sure you have about 12v. check fuses in amp. then try running a wire from the 12v input on the amp to the remote turn on. if it turns on its not the amp. is the remote wire run under your carpet? couldve got cut open and is grounding out, use multimeter to check the remote wire for continuety. this happend to me, i took it down to the shop, and all he did was unplug the harness from hu and put it back in, then it worked. so basically reset the hu. that was my problem

Check for 12v+ from the amp's B+ to ground. If you don't get ~12v...

  • Bad connection at the battery
  • Blown Fuse
  • Bad ground

Check for 12v+ from the amp's remote to ground with the headunit on. If you don't get ~12v...

  • Remote wire is broken
  • Head unit does not have remote wire turned on
  • Blown head unit remote signal

If you don't get 12v from the remote, disconnect the remote wire to the headunit and take a separate wire and jump from the 12v+ power wire to the remote terminal and see if it turns on. If none of this works, your amp is blown.

Ok something interesting happened a few minutes ago when i was messing around with my hu.

I saw the green power light on my amp which the manual says means its in the powered up and turned on condition. But, when i switched my headunit to CD, the green light went off. I went to a radio station but still didnt get sound from woofers.

You have your remote wire connected to the antenna lead instead of the remote wire on the back of your HU //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
