More Power $ucks?

I have been running my polk momo's threw the head units internal amp for about 5 months now and the bass was nice and strong the mids and higs we great. So I though well let me get an amp to run these and it will sound even better. Well yesterday and today I installed my old anp that i use to use in a previous car a Sony xm-4060gtx it is 60 watts rms as posed to like 8 watts. Well it sucks I have no bass my treble is lost and I dont know what to do. I am using tight now on rca set of cables using y splitters and it is connected to the front pre outs on the back of the alpine haed unit. Does the amplifier have crossovers in it? If so, what have you got them set to?

check amp crossover settings dude

or disc one side and see if it gets louder

if so, then reverse the polarity of one speaker.

It does have a crossover and have been playing with that and the bass boost as well when the bass hits it is distorted like it is working rely hard but its not my head unit made them hit so hard my mirrors were rattling. What am i doing wrong and what should i be doing.

sweek the other settings. Honestly even though its a sony amp, it should still b better than any head unit

Okay bass boost to 0 and tweak I will try that. I am just so mad that is doesnt sound better than a head unit I agree with you 2000 you me and my neighbor all are saying the same thing. I will report back.

It is getting better but not there yet but better. My bass is still lacking but my mids and highs are AWESOME!! I defently need to get a nice amp but am tight on money. I am thinking Alpine or Kicker maybe JL if I can afford it. But need to smash this sony afterwords.

Swapping amps won't help...

Did you have a crossover enabled on your head unit before you added the amp?

Do you have the crossover enabled on your head unit now?

Do you have a crossover enabled on your amp now?

If so, what are the crossovers set to on your head unit and amp?

If you don't tell us how things are set up, we can't help you find out what you set up incorrectly.

you my friend should get out of car audio, you just added 4 times the power to speakers and said that your mids and highs are gone? WOW, if anything they got better and less distorted, especially if you have your crossovers set and bass boost off.

i don't know what to say about this except you have a bad ear for the way music sounds.

Right. You can totally tell that his stereo sounds GREAT from where you are.
