mono amp wiring question

Hey I have a quick question. I have a bx1000d mono amp and i'm trying to wire it to 2 Alpine DVC 4 ohm subs at 1 ohm to get its max power. The amp has 4 speaker output terminals that go + + - -. Right now I have one the positive and negative of one sub connected to the OUTSIDE positive and negative terminals of the amp, and the other sub's wires connected to the INSIDE positive and negative terminals of the amp. Is this wired correctly for one ohm or do I have to switch a positive and negative? Or should i just pull two of them and crimp them together so there are only 2 wires leaving the amp. They should just be hitting harder than they are, even though they are sealed. Maybe 16 guage speaker wire isn't enough for 1000watts? Thanks a ton in advance.

since it is a mono amp if I remember right both +'s and both -'s are really the same thing so you really can't mess that up, it is just for connivence sake multiple voice coils and the such. As far as not hitting hard enough, if everything is wired right is the input signal strong enough?

Well unfortunately I can't replace my stock headunit, so I had to tap into my rear speaker wires and convert them into RCA signals for the amp. I'm pretty sure my car has a stock amplifier for the speakers although I haven't ever looked for it before. But at this point I'm thinking of getting another amp for my speakers which might help the input going to the sub amp. Before this I only had 1 alpine running at 2 ohms in a 1.5 ft^3 box, and now that I have two in they are in a divided chamber box with about 1.1 ft^3 each, and maybe they aren't hitting as well in the smaller enclosure. I have a bxi1606d arriving here monday, so maybe sending 800 watts each to these puppies will make them pound better.
