Mono amp suggestion

Looking for some suggestions on a new sub amp. Will be running a single IDQ10v3, so looking for 500 watts into a 2 ohm load. Trying to find a decent, reliable amp without breaking the bank,staying around $150. Was thinking about the Alpine MRP-M500, can get it new for about $135 and it seems to be a decent amp. Ran one a couple of years ago without any issues, but figured I would see what others thought. Thanks

I run a 500w Alpine MRX-M50 on a 2 ohm load (where it performs the best and is meant to be run) and it's been good me so far. Went into protect on me once when I was pretty obviously clipping the signal just to see how far I could go, but that's just because I was being stupid. Never had a problem with it so far. The MRX series is one step above the MRP series that you had before. The new version of my amp is the MRX-M55 which puts out 550w instead of 500w. But I'm sure you could find the M50 for a great price now since it's "out-dated." Still a great little amp.

Those alpines get really hot rreally easy. Im not a fan. Also seems over rated. Id look for a AQ750.

In this situation, I would get myself a PPI Phantom P600.2. In bridged mode it should give about 600 honest watts, but only 4ohm stable (so you need to get a D2 version of IDQv3, and then wire in series). This amplifier is tiny. This family of amps are relatively good performers for the money. I have used the 4 channel version and monoblock.

I have never use Alpine's monoblocks, but I have heard a claim that MRX-M100/M110 mono block amplifiers are implemented internally as a 2-channel amplifier with bridged channels, which could explain why they can run hot, at least with a 2ohm load (since individual channels will be seeing 1ohm impedance)
