ok, i'm in the middle of ordering new equipment, and i was just curious in what all goes into hooking up a video monitor. i have a pioneer deh-4600mp and i don't think it has the proper hookups for a monitor, dvd player etc...it has 2 rca outputs, (i was planning on running 1 to my sub amp (rear) and the other (front) to my comp amp), but i don't see how i can run rca's to my dvd player (should i buy one) in order to send sound to my speakers from my dvd player. id like to do something like this except my dvd player will be mounted somewhere else, not in the center ac vents...........

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/631053/2 (i have the same car, diff. year)

my cd player has an auxillary output.what is this used for?cd changers?can it be used for anything else?im new to the world of car video, and im looking for answers and maybe some basic info as far as installation goes. i was looking at the power acoustik 7" monitors, are they any good for the price??is this how its supposed to be done????

thanks in advance, all help/links/advice is greatly appreciated.

Actually, you are in luck. You would purchase a dvd player, which has the audio (red & white) & video (yellow) inputs for an RCA cable; you would plug the RCA into the red, white, and yellow inputs on the dvd player. Next, the plug the red and white RCA leads into the output end of the headunit. Finally, the monitor will have a yellow ouput line ONLY; this of course will plug into your remaining open RCA line, the video.

sorry but you dont plug the red white into the output of the headunit...u plug it in the "aux in" of the head unit.......it depends wat kind of monitor u want...indash and flip downs are the easiest.....buh basicly to power a monitor just tap into a red and black wire....like if u wanted a flip down...u would replace ur regular lights on the roof with the monitor...use the wires from the regular lights to connect to the monitor.....the thing with that is the wires from the regular lights can be different color..but the ground is always black....

i was wanting to do something like the one in the pic of the other camaro. i guess thats a headrest monitor? so i run my aux cable to the monitor, audio rca's (red and white, or just one?) then the video (yellow) from the monitor to the dvd player?so the hu's rca's supply the audio to the speakers right? and the yellow rca between the monitor and the dvd player supply the video from the dvd player to the monitor right??does the monitor get its power from the auxillary cable?thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it.

The auxilary on your head unit is an input, not an output.....

so audio out of the monitor, into the head unit. There will be no video (yellow) connected to he head unit.

what gear are you lookin at? that'd help a lot.

here's the equipment i have: pioneer 4600mp

here's the equipment im lookin at:

im not looking into anything expensive or fancy, just somethin that won't crap out on me, and another question, is there a way i can play it while driving?i hear about some units only playing while the cars in park.TIA

I would go with the Lilliput monitor...I have heard alot of good things about that brand. As far as the dvd players are concerned, I would suggest maybe a farenheit dvd player from infinitecaraudio.com; you can score on for $85, BNIB.

As far as the "not being able to play while driving" thing, that is easily defeated; the installation will call for attaching the ground to the ebreak...instead, ground it to the chassis and you will be good to go.

don't do the lilliput monitor that you linked us to. It has a built in speaker which you don't need. I think the lanzar or the phoenix digital will suit you best.

the driving thing isn't an issue with this gear. that only applies to indash, flip out monitors.

none of this stuff gets power from the head unit (aux or otherwise) they will all need power run to them.

good luck

p.s. i've decided to go with the phoenix digital monitor. links to a dvd player (i'd like one with the dvd tray slides out as the dvd player will probably be under my seat and it can't flip up) i'd appreciate links to the dvd player, and maybe a drawing of the installation???please!!!!thanks again guys, ur awesome!!

welll..i never installed a headrest tv before...how is power supplied to the monitor?...is it through a red and black wire...whaat kind of power plug is it so i can help yoouu out
