Molding Visors

Instead of being normal and do it the easy way of putting monitors in a visor, I molded these in and prepped them for paint.

I have a few pics, some are missing. But you get the picture.

OK, first you strip the cloth covering off of them. These were plastic.

Cut a hole in them so the housing will fit inside.

(NOTE) If your visors are the cardboard version, same things apply.

Rough sand the whole thing up with 36 grit since it is plastic.

Then I set the housing in place with some hot glue and masked off the back side to mold over it with fiberglass.

Lay a couple to 3 layers of mat to make a mold over the backside.

Then I used some Evercoat Fibre Tech plastic molding filler to seam the fiberglass and visor. Spread it over the whole backside of the visor to make sure any fillers would adhear nice.

This pic is one of them done and some of the Fibre Tech squeezed out. Looks like dog poop.

Here is the time to cut a slot for the wires to sit in and mold the housing in.

Wire is in and I used some fast set liquid plastic epoxy to adhear the housing in and make a rough shape.

Now sand that down.

Here is where some missing pics would go.

But refer to earlier pics of Rage added and then sanded down. Because that is all that was done.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Then throw some primer on them and they are ready to go to the owner in California.
