moisture in trunk...

i was planning an 8" sub , but my trunk lid is bent up and there is a opening between the weather stripping on one side. water doesnt get in unless it rains really hard or when im washing it. it leaks only on the one side but not alot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i was thinking either i put the box in my back seat or in the trunk but i dont know if the mositure would mess with anything like the subs cone/surround, mdf box , amp internals. anyone know? id keep the amp under my seat and run wire to the sub in the trunk if anything.

suggestions? opinions?

maybe replace the trunk lid before yu spend money on a sub? just a sugestion.

My trunk had a leak in it for over a year before i found out about it. It was right above my amp. I didn't have any problems at all. Pure luck.

I would try to fix the leak before putting a couple hundred dollars in there.

Throw some Foam/Rubber weather stripping on the trunk, It might work, Or atleast help a little.

The kind that you just peel and stick on...

Just do what the others said. replace the lid.

Just go to your local junk yard and pick one up for 20-30 bucks. problem solved.

ive called numerous yards and they quoted me 250+ for JUST the lid.

**** 5th gen celicas...ima scope it out some more today and see about stacking some peel and stick weather stripping.

another reason i wanted to put it in my rear seat is because my seats do NOT fold down so ill be sacrificing loudness if i put it in the trunk...

well i checked it out and both the strips on the lid and trunk itself are making contact. so unless im washing it or its raining sideways it doesnt seem ot be a problem.i just dont like the fact mmy seats dont go down. has anyone had a small sub setup on thier rear seat?

**** right i didnt buy it lol thats a crazy price they gave me. i dont plan on keeping the car long so its just a temp set-up.

got the pioneer 4600 in there today. ordering sub today or tomorrow.

i plan on selling the car in the near future so i dont want to be cutting and ripping out everything to get my 8" sub loud. i guess i could run wires under the seat and see how loud it is and if not then un-BOLT the rear seat back off, but then itll just be open....which is still for teh ghettos.

meh, subs on its way ill figure it out when it gets here.

Just do a little bit of bodywork yourself and bend that trunk lid like its supposed to be.
