Mods for 5.0 Ford Explorer v8

I found the explorer i wanted now my firned just has to give me the money for my car as the down payment the suv is a 1997 for explorer 5.0 v8 so far i got these mods at these prices

500 for cat back exahust

135 for mac intake

240 for mass air sensor

260 for performance chip

those parts are set unless u guys suggest better stuff

Im thinking of getting a super charger for the v8 its $3,500 but it adds 83 hp but it syas it requires 92 octane fuel in denver the higest is 91 so would this be worth it?

also how much will fuel be I travel about 80 miles a day (im not exagerating we measured it)

in my acura i usally spend $10 a day and with the chip ill need to use premium fuel I dpont wanna be spending 20 dollars a day for gas. Also new headers are $500 but there reaqlly diffucult to install how much hp do they add?

And hers the other deal a lot of people in Dnever have bmw x5's with a 282 v8 (im looking at motor trend) gets to 60 in 6.6 seconds. The suv im getting has 5.0 v8 211hp so i got to get like 71 hp assuming that they weigh the same and i wanna be able to hit 60 in 6 second is any of this possible with just mods and without the supercharger? and im trying to be able to be faster then f 150's and ricer acura integras without the replaced engine so any suggestions would be good thx.

Good luck on beating F-150's. I've got a 98 Extended cab Lariat w/a 5.4 V-8 dual flowmaster exhausts, new intake, and slightly more aggressive cams..and I KILL explorers and such, both off the line and in top end.

yeh but not to m any people put superchargers on there explorers pluse UR ENGINE HAS 235hp the v8 explorer starts off with 211 we would both have modified exahusts and both intakechips usally add 10-20 hp so just with that i would match u not to mention the extra 83 hp from the supercharger and 9% gain from the mass air sensor thats almost 100 more horse power then u evcen with the loss form the H.O. alternator......u would weigh a lot loess but i would be a good race

Correction..the 4.6 liter V-8 has 235 horsepower, the 5.4 has 265 and 320 ft lbs of torque stock. I dynoed mine and came out with 279 horses and 342 lb ft of torque. Do you know how much the explorer weighs? I'm sure it'd be a close race though, if you've got the cash I'd get a supercharger...it'd just be bad-***

All of those numbers seem to be a little off...I'll see if I can find them anywhere else, something tells me that it'd be a really good race if we got together.

i got a 5.0 cobra. Do the heads intake and cam before you do a blower. I promise you will be better off doing these first. then add the blower. Get a gt-40 intake, gt-40 heads and a camshaft of your choice. THis would give you around 280 horses at the wheels. then add the blower and u will be around 400 hp like me!!

If you wanna run with the faster smaller suv's heres what to do...

1. full exhuast- (headers, midpipe, catback). 900$

2. gears- 4.10's. 400 installed.

3. heads/intake/cam- 2000 installed.

4. blower-3500 installed.

5. dynotune it!!! extra 80 hp with blower. 600.

6. ungrade air/fuel. ( 80mm mass air/ 42lbhr injecotors/ 75mm throttle body. 250lbhr fuel pump. 1000$ you only have to do this if you put on the blower.

How much money you got?

About 7000$. alittle less if you know how to use a rachet! all it takes is simple hand tools that most everyone has and alittle patience, and you could save 1000$. you will have about 450 hp and you could kill any suv and run with many sports cars. you dont have to do all those things, just doing the gears and exhaust would make your ride fly. but lots of extra parts and fees come with a blower.
