means that the user wants to bypass low ohmload protection so that they can use it to power subs at a lower ohmload. :p

lowe ohmload = less resistance = more power. At least in theory, anyway.

Really depends. They could have it modded to handle a higher input voltage, could have it modded to handle lower impedences, have protection circutry taken out, have it modded to increase power output, etc etc.

we just popped a resistor on our Crossfires

I think you could have said "they take the protection out" and it would have been the same thing as stating all of that..

does anyone have any tips on modding amps, or websites with tutorials or antyhing????
why do you want to mod it? what are you trying to achieve?

typically its for competition, being that you wouldnt want to operate them daily at the loads/voltage you had modified them for...what im trying to say is, our modded amps are no better (worse imo) than a "stock" amp for daily driving..

Not really.....it all depends on what's being done. Sometimes parts are actually added and/or replaced. For example, an upcoming trend is to upgrade amps to include Burr-Brown chips. That's a mod that isn't just removing the protection. Or, if you own Linear Power amps, you can send them to TIPS to have a factory authorized mod done to increase power and such, and they aren't just "removing the protection".

Why would modded amps not be acceptable for daily use?
When modding an amp in the way Inhuman suggested (simply removing the protection) you run a HUGE risk of frying the amp (and the possiblity of having it subsequently catch on fire) because, well.....you removed it's protection. No point in taking that kind of risk for a daily driver....just buy an amp that will do what you want without being modded.

not trying to argue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

when i read your statement, "you could have just said remove the protection" is just what came to mind...
