Moderate power question

Is it wise to think not to overwhelm the power between your front speakers and the subwoofers? If I have 300w going to the front should I double that to the subs without worrying about the bass sounding too dominate?

What would you suggest for a moderate power combination?

I thought I knew a little something but now I'm confused....I think I got brain freeze.

300w to the front is kind of a shit ton. I have 900w RMS on my subs and 125w RMS on my fronts, and it makes me want to orgasm.

Sorry, it's 150 x 2 for the front comps.

So 500 to 800w to the subs will be " normal " ?

what kind of subs are they? and what components do u have? if u got a good head unit u can set the subs just how u want, no matter how many watts u have to them....

What comps do you have? 150 is a high rated RMS. 400+ watts will blend well enough if you set it up correctly.

It will be a Premier DEH p860mp, Focal 165V2 comps to a JL Audio 300/2.

I have about 400 to 500 dollars for the subs/amp combo and seems to be confused about what to use. The dealers around here mainly push JL's or Alpine's and would like your opinion for variety and balance. I do appreciate all replies.

It just takes more wattage to push a sub than comps. Currently my Xtant is 50w X2 (@4ohms) and 250w x1 (at 2 ohms) and it balances fairly well, so the same ratio is about right. I would give your sub at least 500w if you have 150w going to comps, and set your gains (turn your comp gains down) to level match your sub.
