Mixing Subs

I know it is extremely frowned upon but I was just wondering why. Not in the same box of course but I was wondering about running two different subs in seperate boxes. Why shouldn't this be done? If you've seen pics of my system you know I'm obviously not about appearance lol... Is there a real performance reason not to?

Cancellation I guess is the main reason (same as running say a 10" and a 12" sub at the same time). If you want to then go ahead, its your car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well I wouldn't want cancelation :/. I was just wondering was all. If I get something to replace my Lightning Audio if I could just leave it in there to add a little bit more sound. Pics of the ghetto install in the gallery lol.

Well that's what I was wondering if I couldn't get that CVR and ended up with another "Sub" par sub lol if I could just add it in. I would be so over joyed with that CVR. I just hope he doens't want like 120$ for it >_

I woduln't add it in, even a single 12" CVR can be had for cheap and get pretty loud.. a 15" ported would be enouhg for you.. for about a month then you iwll want something different //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif we are all addicted

I just hope it won't be too much so that I have to spend my weekends at the Pick-A-Part getting new Body Panels lol

I'm about to step into the cancelation zone with one Planet Audio FU15-4 and four 8" Planet Audio NoS series subs running in the same system at different freq.

I've played around with sub mixing abit and with the help of my Coustic X5e and Earthquake's phase four I think I can minimze cancelation enough to make it worth while.

If it all goes to shit then I guess I'll have to admit everyone giving advice on this forum was right.

Is there a real performance reason not to?
The two different speakers will have two totally different frequency response and such that won't mesh well together and result in generally poor sound.

Cancellation is not the real issue with doing it.

But, it can work if you split up the bandwidths each played......though a waste in an automotive enviornment (IMO), it could be done with decent results. Not really any need to considering the limited bandwidth subs already play, not to mention the lack of real estate in a vehicle and the fact that tuning would be a PITA......but it could be done.
