missing radio fuse cause of problem?

ok i came back from walmart they dont have it either (and i locked my god **** keys in my car !!!! RAWR!!!!) but yea i think you all are right

cus when i was comming home i randomly clicked the harness into the alpine and it came on by itself! it was on radio mode and none of the stations were comming on so i pressed source to goto cd mode and the cd player came on but the second any sound comes out of the speakers it shuts off! it did it about 15 times, it kept the same cd location but it would jsut get 3 seconds further in the song then shut off and come back on again

now when i click it into the harness again it does the old thing where it just barely turns on a little bit but the display dosent come on only power light, WTF?!?!

and now when i try to turn on headlights and shit its all wierd i think my electrical shit is all ****ed up, its wired correctly and everything but its just acting up! please help!

If you could get some pictures of what you are talking about, maybe we could help you out a little better.

im tryin to find my digi cam , but its just a fuse holder with one metal piece inside it, like a normal fuse has 2 metal pieces inside to hold the both ends of fuse, this one only has one

and also its not broken cus the plastic around it isent broken or anything, its just a single prong fuse female piece where the fuse is the male piece and it just clicks into it

Wait, you are looking for a fuse for your car for the radio slot?

Why not just run a new fused power wire from the battery to the radio and be done with it...

i dont know, i dont even think i need it cus the radio came on , and like someone else said my car prolyl dosent need it cus there was never a fuse in there to begin with and i had my stock radio in there for hte longest time working perfectly!

no its not like that picture its a fuse box, a normal fuse box where the little colored fuses with numbers on them plug in

well for the radio one its just a square'ish type hole with one metal female piece in at the bottom , just imagine a normal two pronged fuse and cut it in half so theres only one, boom thats what it looks like but its like a cube , not flat

Are you talking about this is something you've found in your car's fusebox?

If so - I begin to wonder if you're not looking at a fuse location that has nothing to do with the radio.

All cars are offered in different trim levels. The higher trim levels being the ones equipped with more options than the other cars of the same model. As each one of these vehicles is built with the same fuse panel oftentimes the lower trim levels will have spaces in the fuse box meant for options that particular vehicle isn't equipped with. Sometimes these fuse locations will NOT have a complete circuit wired into them and assuch will not have a proper seat for a fuse to be inserted into. It will look, at a glance, like there is supposed to be a fuse there in this empty location but upon closer inspection you will find that there is no possible way to put a fuse there as obviously the presence of one wouldn't complete a circuit anyway.

YES EXACTLY ! i tried putting many in but it just wont work!!! the fusebox is in the passenger console dash thing , i open it up and i look at it, i see plenty of other fuses but where the radio goes its just like no way any fuse could work!?

sounds more and more to me like its issues with how you hooked up your HU. Check your wires again and make sure that they are all secure and hooked up properly. I know you said they are hooked up right but it doesn't hurt to check again. GL

ok but if i wired it incorrectly then why would it work and then not work?

also i figured out if i drive without my headlights on everything works fine, but now when i turn on my headlights my speedo and interior dash lights dont work, but when i turn up my dimmer it starts making a noise like the car door is open WTF?!!? how did all this happen with just a stereo??? alll this happens even with the alpine disconnected! arg !!!

does this give you some kind of clue?

ok here is pics, also i went and rewired the entire harness and still having the same problem!!! so here is pics !!!



radio is on the bottom, words are blurry but you see there is actually Radio printed on the plastic with an arrow pointing to the squareish shape, but i just circled them both and did the same so you can see



this is the gm harness all clicked together

NEGATIVE there is only one female piece in there! like only one prong is supposed to fit in there! , but if you look to the right of the radio one that one is in the same spot, i was wondering if mayby i am supposed to put a LARGE fuse so one prong is in radio and the other one is in the one next to it, since they line up evenly ?
