mini cooper, wall, 2 18" mts, 6kw

hey man, i just joined CA, but i've been reading this post for a while. as a mini enthusiast and a sound enthusiast, i love what i see so far.
by the way, i know the JCW comes with a tuned pulley, but little hint: the JCW supercharger pulley is a 15% reduction from stock, if you look hard enough in places like moss mini and alta mini performance, you can get a 17% reduction pulley AND an upgraded alt pulley, both of which would be absolutely badass for your car, in a sense of boost and MOAR POWER TO THE ALT (which never hurts when you have a box with 2 18" subs where your back seats and trunk once were, and so many thousand watts of power). and your exterior would look so much cleaner if you got a stubby antenna from outmotoring or alta, the stock foot-and-a-half-long aerial looks so stupid, i ripped the stock ant right off of my mini and i don't regret it at all.

by the way, if you ever drive this thing up to new york or if i ever make it down to tampa in my mini, we should crash some car shows. god willing i can find time and money now to hook up the sound on my car (i'm not walling off the trunk or the backseat, but i am for sure adding more sources and more power) we can compare: show-level sound to let's-upgrade-the-daily-driver sound. lol

supercharger pulley = more oomph so the addition of god-knows-how-many pounds of audio equipment doesn't make the car slow as molasses.

alt pulley = more power coming out of the alternator never hurts when you're pumping out 6,000 watts of bass.

shorty antenna = much better looking than the stock.

i think that looks better than having an 18" aerial sticking out behind the sunroof, and from my experience, has zero degrading effect on the FM reception because it's made entirely of aluminum and the stock antenna is basically a pole with wire wrapped around it, sealed in rubber.

i'd do a photo comparison of the stock antenna next to the short antenna, but i screwed the short antenna on reeeeeeeally tight so nobody can steal it, and the side effect there is i can't remove it to photograph it next to the stocker. it's the first, and probably cheapest ($26), visual mod that i recommend to anyone who has a mini.

i kinda like my antenna lol
i may shave it off completely though when i get the car repainted. i NEVER listen to FM.
oh, in that case, yeah rip that sucker right off and get the mounting area covered over.

i live off of FM, and in turn, off of my antenna because my mini's stock head unit is right now refusing any CDs (thanks, dad, for leaving the roof open in the rain) and i'm drowning in schoolwork and maintenance bills (warning now, minis are a pain in the butt when they get up there in age, mine has 99.5K miles on it and in the past 12 months, i've had my entire power steering system and a door handle go down on me), so as badly as i want to be the first kid on the block with the pioneer DEH-P710MP when it comes out, i might have to give it some waiting time.

mark my words, though, one day i'll be listening exclusively to sirius and to my iPod in my car, rather than having neither of the above.

but enough about my mini, i think we all want to see more of the sound system in yours.

also, once you're done with the entire install, i want a video of you playing "shapeshifter" by celldweller out of your car, and putting whatever's left of the JCW power to the test.

too bad you already walled off your trunk, otherwise i'd have what looks like a ridiculously simple way to remove your antenna! when i was looking inside the little compartment for the motion sensor, i saw a big screw and two plastic clips directly under where the antenna is on the roof. something tells me those hold the antenna in.

i personally am thinking about opening that up so i can mount a sirius antenna behind my FM antenna. hahaha
