when i get back from my cruise on the 10th im gonna finish sanding the port, and then make the front trim panel (flush mount for the subs/etc)

i need ideas here.

i planned on covering it in suede.

if i do, ill have to cover it outside the car, but then how should i attach the 3/4" trim panel to the baffle?

i dont want screws.

or should i make the panel, screw it on and fill the screw holes and sand them smooth, then just paint it? but painting to me makes it look like the builder couldn't figure out how to cover it, and just took the easy way out and painted it....

ideas???

Paint could look good if done right, but is also probably going to be a pain inside the car. I would try to use suede outside then attach via wood glue and try to resin and fg the inside through the sub holes... but maybe i'm misunderstanding what you are saying haha.

I can't figure out how to cover boxes with fabric so I just paint them, but I also think that painted boxes looks very good.

Take your time do a nice high gloss finish and it should looks great!

Also it's mostly about prep. I used 1$ paints cans, but took some time prepping it, and it looked pretty good.

i just think personally that when you paint a wall, it looks as if you we're too lazy/didnt know how to cover it properly.

Well this is how I painted my box... soem people don't like the splatters etc but if you just did it black like this it will look good.

gonna pick up a small sander tomorow, finish sanding up the port and paint it, so i can dust the car one last time, im tired of cleaning it, then having to sand again...then making more dust, etc etc...

anyways i broke out all the tools and wood today so im back in work mode lol

i added two 2x4s (ripped about 1/4" off the outer one, so it was level with the baffle) to have something for the bottom trim panel to attach to, and to add some support to the bottom of the box

this is what it looked like before, notice the little open area under the sub baffle

added this today

i promise lots of pics tomorow, im gonna try and get ALOT done..just got back from vacation, and i dont start my new job til Monday, so tomorow im gonna wake up early and get some work done
