car doesnt start...

copied from another forum

big storm today, got caught in it.

it sounds like it wants to crank, but it doesnt. it didnt stall WHILE driving, nor did it after i got to my destination.

i stayed at that destination for about 1.5-2 hours.

went to my car, got in, drove home (storm was already over by this time) drove home fine.

it was when i got home, went inside, showered, etc, came back outside, and it doesnt start.

hopefully something will dry out if its wet, i hope water didnt get sucked in the engine or anything, causing it to "hydrolock" or anything thats going to be expensive.

the flood was about 6-7" deep if i had to guess, could have been more. i had no choice, couldnt avoid it...

If you think you might have sucked up water in the intake I would pull a plug out and take a good look at it. See if theres any water in the cylinder.

Sounds like thats what happened, but hopefully most of it ran through if you made it back when it wasnt even storming.

yup. ive been taking apart different things, everything looks to be dry as a whistle.

i dont know what else to do, except hope it starts in the morning.

if not, i guess ill call AAA to tow it, and just have to fork over the cash to have a shop fix it. prally a sensor, but i dont have the time to mess around and pin point the problem, as its my only method of transportation.

I have a theory, it's a mini

yeah, so? my wife has a mini cooper s, runs just fine. owned by bmw, made in england, i'd wager that mini in my driveway is built better then the majority of vehicles out there today.

and i can't wall ours off, before a comment gets made. it's a convertible.

Check and see if its getting spark. Maybe something happened with the ignition system from the water. By the sounds of it I would say that is the problem.

If its a new car I dont see how it could be a fuel delivery issue with what you have described.

If I was to put my moneyz on it I would say its an ignition issue.

thats what im thinking. i tried cranking it, and my friend checked, and said he didnt get a spark on any of the 4 plugs...so...thats gotta be what it is. at least ill be there to explain it to the shop, so they dont spend 98398 hours checking shit i already have checked.
