midbass in rear doors?

with the setup i have now - i love how it sounds, but if i set the highpass around 80 or so.. the speakers start getting overpowered before they get loud enough for my taste.. they seem to do alright at 120ish... but then midbass is lacking and it causes my subs to stand out too much...

so before i spend the money, cut up my doors ect..

i was just curious if anyone has tried putting some serious 6's or maybe even small 8's if you can fit in em.. in their rear door towards the front.. my car already has the holes cut out and i would just have to cut the trim... and possibly crossing them anywhere from 120-200ish hz... i dont know how well it blend with the front.. but those frequencies shouldnt be "too" directional...

its called a substage...get one
You are wrong on so many levels that its actually very amusing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't put midbass drivers in the rear. I dont even like running my subs up to 120hz, let alone having up to 200hz or more coming from behind me. But Im a front stage snob, some people will say it sounds better than no midbass at all... and who am I to argue that point.

well thats the thing i dont wanna cross my subs at 120 either.. if i could i would like to have them at 60 and 80 tops

but like i said if i set the highpass filter at 80ish on my comps up front.. they dont get as loud as i would like (granted still pretty loud) but in an effort to sqeeze a couple more DBzzzz out of em.. i was just trying to come up with some ideas and figure i would ask for your guys opinions.. and dont forget there is also a difference (im assuming) with a sub playing 120hz in your trunk compared to playing inside the same cabin as you - 2 inches behind you... but i dont wanna go through all this effort, money, time ect.. and find out it sounds like shiet =P

Well like I said, its definitely not ideal, and you wouldn't win any SQ comps for it... but it would sound better than no midbass at all I suppose.
edit: any room to squeeze another mid in each front door?

more midbass then run a 3way setip upfront

have a midbass driver, midrange driver and a tweet

like i am doing

i have my midbass in stock location in the door then my tweet and midrange in the kicks

yea i know that would be ideal but i drive stick and the way my car is if i put a 6.5 mid in the kicks i would have like no leg room.. i wish i could find a 6.5 speaker that could play low (50-700ish) and take some serious power cause i saw some 3 and 2 inch mids that would be great for a 3 way setup.. + i love my tweeters

and yea i was thinking of running some kicker free air midbass under my rear seats or in the rear doors as well

like put some 8's in the doors and under the seats or put 6's in the doors and 8's under the seats but idk if thats even going to do anything might just be poinltess so i figured i wouldnt haha

I would get a better driver.

I have personally tried this and it does not work well. I was able to localize the sound being produced by the midbass and it threw off the stage and made it difficult to blend with the front stage and sub. I used id8's in the rear panels in sealed boxes highpassed at 650 is think? I know your not supposed to be able to identify untill about 800hz or so but this was not the case.

i run some cdt es600 with about 100w going to them and they rock. This is on a properly deadened door however

If you're wanting bass anywhere other than the front, don't use doors... in other words, don't use your rear doors for a bass driver. There's SO MUCH work you have to do to tame resonance (vibration) when it comes to a door install it truly is pointless (imo) if you have other places to do it.

Having said all that, the only bass I have behind the driver is the sub and that's just because I can't put 2 12's IB up front.
