midbass better of my HU?

I've recently noticed that my midbass off my amplifier is different from when it was run off the HU. With the amplifier, the bass is real quick, tight, and punchy. It hits and goes in a split second. But off the HU, the bass sounded almost like a subwoofer, except it didn't get as low of course, sort of like how the bass sounds in a stock system. Did I do something wrong?

Yeah, the crossover is set to HPF and I put it at ~80hz.
