Now where do we go from here =) The cable on the right is the cable that plugs into the xbox mother board.

 
now that i think of it because of the constantly changing voltage you should probably get a voltage regulator instead. because with a resistor if your hi voltage (aka 12v) drops then your low voltage (5v) will also drop which may make a problem if it drops too low. most voltage regulators will keep the voltage constant. also about the moving parts of the xbox all around the car keep in mind that the designers made those wires a cretin length for a reason so you might want to up the size of the wire if you are extending the harness any thing over a couple of inches. lastly i am not sure but you may loose the ability for your xbox to tell time if you make it all dc voltage but i am not sure.

 
All good points. I have gotten to the point where I will stick with my invertor just need to figure out how to keep it from making interference with my screen.
