Metered my truck today...

On a LinearX and was embarrased more or less by my 120.3. Not that I designed my system around SPL at all, but it still seemed really low. I think my gains aren't set where they should be, I'll set em the multimeter way when I get a chance, right now they're set the conservative way. I think the mic we have might not be the best, even though it was re calibrated 3 months ago. The shop down the street has a meter that is roughly 6db louder then ours. Then again, I only have a bit over 300rms to the sub in a sealed box, and I have 75rms to each of the fronts... oh well. Input is appreciated.

I've seen stock sound systems break a 120 on the termlab. You should MOST definitely be able to break a 130 on the linX.

How do LinearX and Termlab compare? I figured my score should be louder, I hit 109.5 in one of my saabs with nothing but my 4" dash speakers (one of which was blown) and my 860 when I ran it just for fun

Yeah guys thanks for the input, this re-inforces my suspicion that our meter is messed up... I'm not too worried about it though, not going to lose sleep over my SPL when I listen to it at not more then 100 daily...

with two treo tsi 10"s i waswell into the 140 db range on average. that is with two tens under the seat in a sealed box with 1000 watts on the subs and 300 on the highs, give or take a few watts depending on how hard i am on it. cant wait to try my tsx's later. how is your box setup. can you show some pics of the box? i doubt it is under the seat with a tdx, my tdx 12"s were super deep. i think that sub sounds good ported still. with only 300 watts though, that isnt nearly enough. on the 10" i would run about 900-1200 watts, i was running 1500 ported on my single 12" tdx.

No theres no way it is under the seat, its downfiring in a cabinet/amp rack that takes up the former rear seat area (no point in making people sit back there it's just hazardous) I'll go take pictures of all my gear tomorrow when it's light outside and post them.

Yeah that mic is toast or something. I have seen 4 6x9s do a 120. So I would invest in a tl if it is through your shop.

Thanks for the advice.. It was T.I. (only rap CD I had in my car). Shouldn't make that much of a difference though, my truck still should have been louder then a 120.3 on the dash.
