memphis remote gains, bass boost or gain?

anyone know for sure? the one i found says 0-12db gain... kind of gives me pause because that sounds like a bass boost to me.

probaly is gain i doubt memphis would do actually "bass boost" but to test

run a 1khz test tone, measure voltage, turn up the remote gain, measure again, if its higher its a gain if not its bass boost

well i dont have it yet. wanting to know whether to pick it up, or get an in line rca potentiometer.
