Memphis PR Series...or PG, Kicker, DEI/ORION

So, I'm not too sure if I want to hang onto my new Planet Audio amp. Sometimes when I start the car my subs won't power...like the amp is one, all connections are fine, but sometimes they just won't play and I don't even want to deal with warranty. So, I've been browsing around and found a memphis 16-prd1000.1 for three hundred bucks. My only thing about it is that it has a tad high current draw, fuse rating of 120A. Basically I'm just looking for something around 300 dollars for a solid 1kW. I was thinking about spending even more (around 400) and considered a xenon 1200.1 or a kx1200.1.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these orion amps?

I'm pretty sure the first one is a lil older, so it's cheaper. But can anyone tell me which his actually better or at least worth the price?

And how would the Directed 2400D (1200w rms) stack up against the orion? The new DEI's are CEA certified..

If I went ahead and spent a lot, (like 400 bucks on the PG, Orion, Kicker, or Directed), then it'd probably be a long-term product, especially the PG with it's variable impedance capabilities.. I've heard some reliability issues with the PG though..

oh and I do realize the PR series is their lowest line but the MCD costs too much.. i really don't mind about the high current draw on the PRD (especially if it's underrated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

someone seriously has to have an opinion. on the memphis amp at least. its *almost the same price as a nine.1 and i always told myself i was never going to give eD any of my money. the PG i'm afraid i'm gonna end up getting a bad one...and the kickers are just flat expensive.

I wouldent buy a Xenon again after my ordeal dam Korean made POS

Xenons have excellent SQ but whimp out,dont expect them to last long

Memphis is made in Korea also much to my dismay but do produce the power they advertise and are sturdy units

Orions are in the same boat as Mem

comparing the 3 brands is going to be very close

You have a problem with korean made products? You got a nice cell phone? Guess where it's probably made in. Honestly, every amp I've owned made overseas in Korea has outlasted some "American-made" products so I don't disregard a product just for that.

its a good amp but any amp i went with was an st older equivilant to an mc...lotta local guys i see running it

yea the mc is expensive. I'm looking at the PRD-1000.1 cuz it's about 320 dollars out the door and I don't have to wait around for shipping or any of that bs. Or...I could spend thirty extra dollars and get a nine.1 (whenever the hell they're supposed to be shipping again) and get more power with the same fuse rating.......

go with the memphis. I'm sure you could find an mclass on ebay for a good price. there are very reliable and pound hard. Get rid of that planet audio pos

There is no difference between those orion amps, both are 1200d's, one picture has the endcaps the other doesnt. Different picture quality of the pictures make em look a little different also. Look around and you can probably find them cheaper.

Theres another thread on here linking to Kicker 1200's for $269 plus shipping. Refurbished, but still, it would save you some $$.

Yea I saw it but it's not the 05 I dunno I'm kind of over refurb still. Plus if I were to get the memphis, I'd buy it locally, lol but it is indoaudio. But I've bought all sorts of things from him, I'll terrorize the business if they wrong me haha jp. Any other suggestions? 320 is kinda steep coming from ao 200 dollar pos but oh well.. the Planet Audio is being sent back out on Monday for sure. i'm not gonna forget about the nine.1 though...always a possibility...
