I am looking into buying 2 Memphis M3 12's powered by the Memphis MCD1000 in a Memphis ported enclosure, or 2 Kicker CVX 12's powered by a Kicker ZX1500.1 in a ported enclosure. Which will sound better, which will be louder? Which setup would you choose? Thank you.

I heard a single 12" CVX in a 1 cube sealed enclosure powered by a zx750.1 and thought it got pretty loud. I think I am doing the same sub/amp setup in my car, but ported.

Sound quality, too subjective.Either one doesn't sound particularly amazing but neither sound bad.

Personally I'd go with the M3's.They have the potential to get just as loud.

i prefer the memphis. i got the chance to demo a set of CVX 12''s in my truck while i was waiting on the M3's to arrive and the M3's are louder and sound way better on the same power

you know I'm gonna say it...plus some that tested the CVX in the Big 12 challenge loved the sound of the CVX.

I say CVX, off more power (ZX15001) and do 1.25 sealed per driver...while ported will be louder by a tad, you'll have more accurate and deeper bass in that sealed box. (plus use less space)

hmmm who could you be talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The cvx was my favorite driver in the great 12 challenge. It had a nearly flat response from 30-60hz iirc. For the money I dont think the CVX can be beat. The m3's are nice drivers I would say its a toss up between the two. Whichever your local dealer offers the best price/warranty on would be what I would go with....

edit i just read where you said you will be running a 1000d on the m3s or a 1500.1 on the cvx's, for that reason I would go with the CVX"s. I'm guessing those are both around the same price, and the cvx's are the better deal

Oh, just for future reference. Put $800 OBO, or you will only get that $600, or less. ;)
